Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Blair K — 09 Sep 2014
What started out as an intriguing edgier movie segues near the end to crazy drivel the likes of quentin tarantino. it gets too intense for its own good. I could of done without the chicken scene. those that have seen the movie know what I am referring to.
that was beyond sick! frankly it took away from the movie. the scene was just there I guess to show how unstable mcConaughey's character is but frankly we get the point way before that. he is too calmly cool to be anything but not all there.
I will admit it was a brave jolting perfomace on his part but some things I just wouldnt do as an actor but oh well. as for gina gershon and thomas haden church had good chemistry as did emile hirsch and newcomer juno temple.
was all very believable as the disfunctional family. I felt for gina gershon that she had to do such disgusting things in the chicken scene. so demoralizing. I was literally speechless. will not be watching any more movies from this director william friedkin! way too freaky!
