Review of Killer Elite (2011) by Stephanie D — 05 Feb 2012
Killer elite review.
Killer elite is based on the Book named Feather men written by Ranulph Phiennes. The movie is based on the underground spy activities during the gulf war period. Jason statham stars as Danny , Robert De Nero as hunter and Clive Owen as . The story is a bit too complicated and might take some time to understand.
Set in the 80's Hunter and Danny are Professional Assassins once on a mission they decide to be good human beings and decide to stop their killing activities. After many years Danny is called back to see A Sheikh in Oman the sheikh demands Danny to do the job or he would kill Hunter who is under the custody of Omani sheikh. Danny agrees to do the job of killing the ASA agents who were responsible for the death of sheikh's three sons. Danny goes back brings his old team and starts doing the work but after assassinating one person the ASA Agent Clive Owen gets suspicious and he starts investigating the death so he finds that there is more to come and he starts being cover for the rest of the Targets. It is like a double you don't know why is Clive Owen following them or what is his business as he has no official orders to nab them.
The action scenes are awesome Jason statham is amazing in hand to hand combats and cool stunts. But the script is not good it is rather a mess ,can't tell it is a bad adaptation but yes it is a heartless script. Jason statham gives an all in performance, even Clive Owen portrays someone who is obsessed in nabbing Jason statham even though he has no official orders he does fine and Robert De Nero has a very less screen time but he is nice. The acting is all fine except for the Chick who portrayed Danny's girlfriend she can't do it she just can't do anything her dialogue delivery is too poor and there are lame dialogues like "Is this ever gonna be over" oh man that's too lame.
Something really cool about this movie is it's unmatchable action sequences. They are just awesome and through this movie Jason Statham can proclaim himself as one of the best action stars of Hollywood.
The story being complex would have been a winner if the conditions were a bit dark and if the director could have instilled a sort of fear in the viewers this movie could have been much better. But still the direction is not a big mess but it could have been way better.
This movie may be hated by a few for it's complex plot and somewhat a rusty script which most action films do suffer. So it depends whether you are concentrating or not.
My rating : 6/10.
