Review of Kill Your Darlings (2013) by Oscar T — 11 Apr 2014
A good film full of good performances surrounded by an atmosphere that hangs in the air like the pungent smoke in the jazz bars the characters frequent.
I feel that I would have enjoyed the whole thing more if I had a much broader knowledge of poetry than I do, as they really didn't take time to build a shared knowledge with as films like Dead Poets Society dead, instead the film assumes we understand what the characters are reading without letting us hear it, and if we don't know then we are left on the outside looking in at what appears to be a very emotionally and politically charged revolution.
The more intimate and character based moments to provide some depth for those unversed in prose.
