Poet Alan Ginsberg's (Radcliffe) college life saw him hang out with authors William Burroughs (Foster), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston), and a theretofore less known man, Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan), for whom he had a torrid infatuation.
College hijinks and murder shape the story, but John Krokidas film is dramatically diffuse and not particularly interesting (unless perhaps for followers of the Beat movement). It does, however, feature some strong performances from Radcliffe and DeHaan.
