Review of Kill Your Darlings (2013) by Ian G — 16 Dec 2014
Kind of a mixed bad of a film which is best seen as a counter programming film for those who are huge fans of certain tween hearthrobs (Radcliffe and Danwe Dehaan) and use it as an introduction to various beat generation writters and what they may have gone through during their university days.
Radcliffe is defintitely using this as one of his projects to distance himself from the Potterverse and does an average job, although it isnt bad. The dynamo here is Dane Dehaan as Lucien Carr, the off the hinges partner who helps wake Radcliffe's Gindberg inner rebel.
The story itself is very familiar even though it involves iconic characters that I am not as much familar with outside of the titles of their work, I feel like even though the film is ok, it merits a larger voice or better translation of their cumilative work to merrit a great review.
