Review of Kill Your Darlings (2013) by Zack F — 15 Apr 2014
Of all the Beat Generation movies that came out in the past couple of years, (Howl, On the Road) Kill Your Darlings is the only one to manage to capture the rebellious jazzed spirit of the literary icons while also being an accessible and engrossing story.
The plot is a bit disjointed, with the first half exploring the roots of the beat literary movement, then kicking into thriller mode for the second half. Fortunately both halves kept me hooked with great character development and incredible acting all around, especially by Dane Dehaan as the guilt ridden manipulator Lucien Carr.
