Review of Kill the Irishman (2011) by Mal M — 26 Mar 2011
Sorry, as a Clevelander, I saw too many glaring mistakes. It moved slowly at times but the acting was strong. Ray Stevenson does a good job as Danny Greene. Kilmer was the weakest of the ensemble cast. Christopher Walken was a stand-out as Shondor.
Birns (note to director: Birns had red hair in real life, not black). Paul Sorvino was also believeable and was D'Onofrio. There were problems with the script and locations that only a Clevelander would pick-up. For example, Greene askes if there is a "soda" in the refrigerator, not a "pop" as any Cleveland/Chicago native would. Also, the locations were totally wrong. Other than that it is a fun little film offering a glimpse into the world of the '70's mobsters' and their eventual decline.
