Review of Kill the Irishman (2011) by Michael M — 28 Mar 2011
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie beginning to end. As a lifelong Cleveland resident, growing up after the mob wars, I knew next to nothing about this period in our city's history. I am intrigued enough about the subject matter that I would seek out more of it on my own. The real question is: Was Danny Greene a criminal or a hero? Some would say both, especially the residents of his neighborhood he served.
I would recommend to those who like biographical material. The one thing that bothered me was that this movie was filmed in Michigan. At one point 3 of the main characters are coming out of a stadium after a supposed Indians game, which I gathered from the banners. However, this was not the municipal stadium of old, but a Comerica-like park. A lot of the movie was like this for me, as I have been to many of the places and none of them looked familiar.
