Review of Kill the Irishman (2011) by Eric R — 02 Aug 2011
Taking place in 1976 Cleveland, 'Kill the Irishman' chronicles the rise of an Irish mobster, Danny Greene and the massive turf war that ensues between him and the Italian mafia. Its a pretty crazy true story with this guy being one tough son-of-a-bitch.
Ray Stevenson is perfect as Danny Greene. He brings a good amount of swagger to this tough guy with just a hint of sensibility. Reall the cast in general is the only thing really holding this film up.
The way the film is constructed is rather shitty and it never goes into nearly enough detail explaining the Unions and how it all intertwines. Danny Greene is very much romanticized, which I am fine with but I wouldnt recommend this to anyone who wants more than just fun badass-character to watch in a mafia movie.
