Review of Kill the Irishman (2011) by Dominik G — 03 Oct 2011
This Gangster film never got a UK wide release and thats a shame because it has enough in it than most of the dreck we get from American Cinema.
The story of the Clevland Mafia war with Irishman Danny Greene opened a whole can of worms which would eventually see the Clevland Mafia collaspse and the other Mafia Families seriously weakend.
Ray Stevenson is exellent as Greene a one many army who took the Mafia on and almost won as they couldnt kill him no matter how many bombs they planted.
Eventually the Mafia had to get outside help to kill Greene off and the film traces those violent months of 1976 .
It helps that the suppoting cast is packed full of character actor from other Gangster movies including Tony Lo Bianco,Paul Sorvino,Christopher Walken and Vincent D Orfino who all put in good performances.
That and the fact that most of what happened was true makes for an entertaining and interesting gangster film.
