Review of Kill the Irishman (2011) by Erno K — 20 Jul 2011
Not a bad effort for a mafioso film, but Kill the Irishman still only feels like Goodfellas lite. The movie is not gritty enough. The intensity is lacking, which holds it back for me. Sure, there are great moments, but the overall execution leaves a taste of 'meh' in my mouth.
The Irish music is great, though, and might be the best thing in the flick. Reminded me of Braveheart, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. I expected more, but it's not that bad. A passable, based-in-true-events gangster story.
