Review of Kill List (2011) by Sarah A — 31 Dec 2011
This is a very impressive, genre busting bloody slab of filmmaking. When I began to watch kill list I had absolutely no expectations, and no idea what it was essentially about. I think this is the ideal frame of mind watch kill list in as it makes the movie much much more shocking.
The director, Ben Wheatley made a wonderful artistic choice when he shot the movie from as far as I could tell an almost fly on the wall perspective. This makes the plot of the movie very ambiguous, everything is explained through conversations and the subtlety of the various characters expressions and reaction to things.
I choose not to reveal any plot points in this review, because it is important that you know as little about what your getting into when you watch this film. It first grabs you by the mind with its complex suburban family situations, and then later by the throat with unprecedented film violence and horror.
I was unable to sleep after watching kill list. There is something about this film that truly horrifies, and cuts to the nerve. Anyone who wants to see a new horror classic should watch kill list. It is unlike any film you have ever seen.
