Review of Kill List (2011) by Juan José A — 26 Oct 2011
Part British crime drama/part outright horror, this film is an unsettling trip down the proverbial rabbit hole. What begins as a pretty procedural retired-hitman flick (one last job, etc.) quickly takes a turn for the weird, turning into something that can only be described as "[Rec]" meets "The Wicker Man".
The movie aims to shock, and it succeeds at that in spades, with more than a handful of scenes that will leave you aghast and maybe even looking away. The imagery is powerful and suitably creepy; and above all, the powerful performances from the leads sell the whole experience.
