Review of Kill List (2011) by Mark R — 30 Dec 2011
First and foremost, Kill List is a film that refuses to pander to its audience. The film's director, Ben Wheatley, initially sets up Kill List as a Kitchen Sink/realistic docudrama with a twist; the main character is a hit man.
Then, with an explosion of almost unwatchable violence, Wheatley whips out the genre rug from under your feet and the film becomes something else entirely. To rave any further about Kill List would simply ruin the surprise - try to watch it without knowing anything about the plot and enjoy the rollercoaster.
By far the best film I've seen in 2011.
