Review of Kill List (2011) by Stephen C — 19 Nov 2012
Ben Wheatley is meant to be the next great white hope of British Cinema ,and I have to say ithink this time the critics have got it right .
Jay is a hitman living in a suburban nightmare after a job in Kiev was bothced several months before .
He is running low on cash and all he can do is argue and bicker with his wife over their broken jacuzzi.
Jays best friend Gal comes up with a semmingly easy assignment which will make him some quick money and put his finaces back in order.
But what starts out as a routine job becomes something more and more sinister and Jay And Gal realise that their is something terrible at the heart of the assignment.
Wheatley has made an exciting and in some parts terrifying thriller which plays at first like a gangster film and then wonders into Wicker man territory.
Neil Maskell is very good as Jay and his performance is outstanding given the fact before this he appeared in some mid range gangster films.
Comic Michael Smiley is equally good as Gal and the chemistry betweeen him and Jay gives the film a more belivable edge.
Wheatley is the real dea land lets hope his next few films are as good as this .
