Review of Kill Command (2016) by Jay W — 17 Jul 2016
I really love it when I find a hidden gem like this. Straight off the bat the visual effects are pretty impressive for a lower budget film like this. And they get steadily better throughout the film. I was extremely impressed with the model making and I think they were animatronics or just very well executed SFX that most high budget movies fall flat on, ID2 Insurgence & God of Egypt comes to mind.
The film has a very slight Dog Soldiers feel to it but without any of the humour, this film has no humour at all. The storyline is very basic and the characters are generic but interesting enough for the film to flow as things progress the characters come into their own.
The all-round atmosphere and feel of the film is very good considering the low gadget. It is very reminiscent of a computer game thrown together with a Predator-esc theme with nice pacing, cinematics and action. The action scenes are pretty satisfying.
I found the film engaging despite predictable but to be honest it is such an enjoyable and fun journey it was a wicked afternoon siting on the sofa with a pizza and beer.
