Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) by Adam S — 14 Nov 2013
While the 2nd installment of Tarantino's "Kill Bill" epic has many of the directors signature dialogue scenes and some memorable fight sequences, Volume 2 doesn't quite pack the same punch as Volume 1 for my money.
Starring Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, and with cameos from Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox and Samuel L. Jackson, Volume 2 spends a lot of time delving into the past of The Bride (Thurman), which adds weight to her character at the expense of moving forward the revenge storyline of the film.
The result is a vaguely mismatched film. Definitely a Tarantino film, you can tell from the style, but also one of his weaker efforts as a filmmaker.... still when your weaker efforts can earn 4 stars, you must be doing something right.
