While the first part of Quentin Tarantino's epic revenge thriller was violent and very energetic, this second part is more about exposition of the story and characters. Naturally, Volume 2 is longer and more slowly paced than its predecessor.

While this can easily be seen as a problem, and I'll admit that the frequent flashbacks can be a bit of a nuisance, but it's certainly better than the end result being a four-hour epic, where half the film is mounds of dialogue with barely fight scenes.

Besides, the characters are fleshed out very well, and I guess we owe that to all the exposition. The film shares its stylistic flair with its predecessor, and to great effect. As for the fight scenes, in this film, they seemed to go for an approach more reminiscent of old Western films, which also influenced the film's overall style.

Overall, it's slower, but still a satisfying conclusion to an epic that truly deserved to be called an epic.
