Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) by Aditya C — 08 May 2014
Quentin Tarantino's first half of "Kill Bill" is all style and no substance. Majority of the film is simply fight sequences, although incredibly well staged, seem to go on forever and ever.
There is no real story in the film, no real characters, and worst of all, like most of Tarantino's films, there is no emotional resonance. The director's excess blood and gore is present here as well, and as usual the impact wears off after a while until it all feels slightly comical.
Ultimately, "Kill Bill: Volume 1" is another shallow, crude, and generic revenge film from Tarantino.
