One of Bava's scariest. A period Gothic horror film that contains perhaps the cinema's first "creepy little ghost girl" that is so popular today. Here, the little ghost girl seems to represent Satan himself (an idea which Martin Scorcese, an admitted Bava fan, used in Last Tempation of Christ.
