Review of Kikujiro (1999) by Chris S — 13 Mar 2008
Cheerful, strange, but touching. The story, though very random, is funny to watch and doesn't fail to make you smile. Kitano's character, though a stubborn ass, is played well-enough that you can laugh at his antics and by the end of the movie, you feel sorry for him and know what he's like on the inside.
The direction was really good and the musical score was amazing. My only complaint was that some parts left me going, "WTF?!!!!" because they were so random, like the dream sequences.
