Review of Kidulthood (2006) by Shaun M — 08 Jul 2008
Kidulthood introduces us to thoroughly dislikeable characters, and then unsuccessfully asks us to feel sympathy for them. As authentic as the acting may be (in replicating an incredibly irritating cross-section of society), I can't help but think that the narrative is very much overstated for the sake of dramatics.
Nevertheless, it is a strangely compelling film in its own way.
