Review of Kidulthood (2006) by Liz B — 16 Jul 2011
Clumsy dialogue at times; plot derivative of Larry Clark's kids. Yet compelling enough to watch all the way through. For a fresher, more inspired take on contemporary class issues and youth culture in London, I'd recommend "Attack the Block.
" While a fantasy on the surface, whereas "Kidulthood" is meant to be realism, I actually found the latter to be simultaneously more conventional in its values and more sensationalistic in its plot.
Both are worth a watch, but there's a comparison worth noting.
