Review of Kids (2013) by Christine A — 01 Nov 2008
I really don't what to think of this movie, not because of its disturbing material, but because of the film's execution. My main frustration with the film is that Chloe Sevigny's character spent the majority of the film searching for Justin Pierce's character.
.. and when she does find him, she does absolutely nothing, which I found to be hugely anti-climatic. In addition to that, I felt that the direction was a bit sloppy, and that the film needed to pull out all of the stops to make the film as disturbing as possible.
Yes, teenagers and kids do engage in this behavior back then and now, but it seemed to be a situation where the director thought, "Okay, what fucked up thing can we do next, and how much more fucked up can we make it than the previous scene?".
