Review of Kids (2013) by Leonardo - Malacay - S — 27 Feb 2009
An ugly, relentless depiction of an ever-more pertinent struggle. While the film is brash and graphic, it's exceptionally well made. Larry Clark demonstrates composure and discipline in capturing a chaotic environment.
The performances are all natural and disturbingly real, so much that it frequently feels like a documentary. The unforgiving screenplay is from Harmony Korine, a then untrained, truth-telling looking glass aimed at New York's decrepit youth.
