Review of Kids (2011) by Dan H — 18 Mar 2014
A couple of young teens go about NYC bragging about their various sexual conquests and planning on deflowering virgins, meanwhile one of the teens previous one night stands races through the city in an attempt to find him and tell him he gave her AIDS.
The film is pretty aimless and it wonders and drifts through the running time much like our protagonists. It's just about completely devoid of nudity (surprisingly), but it does have some sex, and drug usage.
It's notable for it's realistic and raw portrayal of teens, and the script is pretty great. Leo Fitzpatrick (as our main protagonist Telly), Justin Pierce (as his best friend Casper), and Chloe Sevigny (as AIDS victim Jenny) all put on superb performances.
While it's sure to offend a good deal of people, Kids is still a brilliant film and a minor masterpiece of 90's grunge filmmaking.
