Only two years separated from Kickboxer 3, a whole lot has happened. Archrival Tong Po, now a druglord in Mexico (and visionary record producer!), has framed Sloan to prison and abducted Sloan's wife.
Tong Po can certainly carry a grudge. In a deal with the DEA, Sloan is sent to Mexico under an alias to bring down Po in his own martial arts tournament, using sunglasses to avoid detection from Tong Po.
