Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Jake C — 06 Jan 2019
To turn this stylish and entertaining but ultimately flat bloodbath into a philosophical soapbox for ruminations about pornographic profane gore in cinema and the childrenâ"my god, won't someone think of the children!?â"is to have missed the point of the parody.
Much like TMNT some 20 years prior, K-A aims to KO the burgeoning superhero genre, especially its Nolan-inspired aspirations toward gritty realism, by exposing the underlying violence all such comic tales reply.
While many of the punches don't quite land with the intended force, they still hit their ridiculous target square in the all-too-square jaw.
