Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Mike N — 08 Mar 2014
Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a comic book nerd and wonders why there aren't real superheroes in real life so he sets out to be one. Through the wonders of the internet and going viral, he becomes a bit of a star.
Eventually, the crime boss of the city suspects him in preventing one of his gigs so he orders Kick Ass killed, his son Christopher Mintz-Plasse has an idea to pretend to be a superhero to lure him into a trap.
They get there, but it is already on fire and Nicolas Cage disposed of the goons for what they did to him and getting him sent to prison. He also trains his daughter Chole Grace-Moretz in fighting techniques to follow in her father's footsteps.
Eventually, her father is caught and killed and she teams up with Kick Ass to save the day Obviously, CGM is the star here for being the innocent but so crass Hitgirl and she becomes the star of the movie about halfway through.
A pretty solid movie, much better than the sequel which came out a few years later.
