Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Jamie R — 20 Aug 2014
Kick-Ass is nothing like anything we've seen before. Taking place in the REAL world, average kid Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) ponders the question of why no one has tried to become a real superhero, and when he decides to become Kick-Ass, the world's first superhero, he realizes he's not the only one to share his dream. He begins to fight crime with Big Daddy (Nic Cage), foulmouthed little girl Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz), and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), and finds out that being a superhero is more dangerous than he once had thought.
Kick-Ass is adapted from the Graphic Novel of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., who worked closely with writer/director Matthew Vaughn in the production of the film, so despite a few changes to help the movie appeal to the general audience and translate well to the big screen, the film is adapted very well.
The cast is talented, the script is frequently funny, and it's overall a well made graphic novel adaption, it's definitely a must see for all comic book fans.
