Review of Kick-Ass 2 (2013) by Cade H — 12 Jan 2015
Kick Ass 2 may have lacked the originality of the first movie (which was expected) but it still maintained the fun and craziness that made Kick Ass so awesome. This sequel took the super hero premise to a larger scale and created a lot more heroes then just the few we all know and love.
This made for some good moments but it also created some downfalls as well. They tried to dive deeper into some characters real lives and those were hit or miss. This one got very dark and gruesome with some nasty deaths and intense scenes that would fit right into a Quentin Tarintino flick.
The best character (maybe the best character in any action movie in the last 10 years) Hit Girl was once again the star of the film and never ceased to amaze with her fight scenes and even her more sentimental moments.
Her character alone makes this movie better and she is one bad ass chick. You can look at this sequel and compare it directly to the first and see that it lost its surprise and mystery along the way, but the main parts that made the first one good still hold up in creating a fun, Kick Ass movie.
