Review of Kick-Ass 2 (2013) by Swati — 09 Sep 2013
While the violence that made the first movie so memorable is there, the charm is clearly lacking. Big Daddy is replaced with another engaging character, Colonel Stars and Stripes, who is underutilized.
Hit-Girl is grown up and looks good. Kick-Ass himself has worked out and it shows. But the positives end here. The main villain is sort of funny but is not very compelling. The plot goes nowhere. The fight scenes are good but not up to the level of the first movie.
The movie lacked direction. There was no overarching story that bound all the pieces together. It was a mess.
