Like it's predecessor - and creator Mark Millar's 'Wanted' - 'Kick Ass 2' is a tone-deaf piece of garbage that mistakes itself for a wise deconstruction of the superhero genre.

It has absolutely no clue what it's trying to say about violence - is it horrible or is it really cool? The surprisingly deep cast is wasted on dumb plot points. And, it spends time genuinely wondering whether good breeds evil and whether the absence of the former would negate the latter.

When Jim Carrey signed on, I had moderate hope that he had latched onto a great script. Nope!
