Review of Kick-Ass 2 (2013) by Michael K — 06 Feb 2015

Is Kick-Ass 2 a good movie...No, but it is really fun to watch. The first movie was good, but I think the second one hit it's stride and really hit that fine line between dark and fun. The theme of "This is Real Life" is ever present in the movie and a does make you think a bit of could this really happen.

The best parts are where Christopher Minz-Plaas is trying to be the World's Super Villain and has constant frustrations, especially with his layer. These parts are what breaks up the kind of dull vigilante super hero aspects.

The second theme is Hit Girl struggling to stay out of the game while trying to become a typical high school girl. The Mean Girls esque storyline is predictable though it is somewhat necessary. Overall this would be the movie I would make, it isn't high cinema but it is fun and funny enough to be worth a watch.
