Review of Khadak (2006) by Gorbag B — 23 Feb 2008
[font=Century Gothic][color=black]This movie evoked in me a sense of recognition...."hey, these are my peeps!" although I have never been to Mongolia, and am not of Mongolian descent. Rather, I felt that I was gazing on Mordor, and that for once, my fellow orcs were not characterized as mindless sadists, but rather as the poor, sturdy, stoical denizens of a bleak land that feels like home.
I loved the coal mine, the crane, the lunchtime potatoes-in-a-jar, and the dispirited police telling the dangerous criminals: "it's after midnight--go to sleep!" The concert number alone was worth the price of admission.
