Review of Key Largo (1948) by Steve S — 30 Nov 2009
***1/2 (out of four).
A first rate gangster drama with a superb performance from Edward G. Robinson as Johnny Rocco, a mean mob boss who wants to get his old glory back.
A group of people hold up in the Key Largo Hotel as a hurricane barrels down on them. Hostages are held when the mobsters try and protect their dirty deal.
Claire Trevor is wonderful as the mob boss' girlfriend. She also walked away with a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the part.
