Review of Kes (1970) by Andres B — 18 Jun 2012
Movie about an boy and his trained bird, amidst a society that rejects him. This is by no means a typical kid-pet story. The kid himself doesn't even consider his bird a pet, but a force of beauty, This film works for the viewer in the same way the bird works for the child.
Told with social realism, the film moved me beyond anything I expected.
