Review of Kept and Dreamless (2005) by Gerardo E — 27 Jul 2008
I screened this film at the MFAH and it really should have been released to a larger audience. There are tremendous moments of raw emotion and an incredible performance by the girl who plays the 10-year old daughter.
The story is cleverly written from many points of view that at first seem disconnected until the satisfying and heart-warming resolution. This movie illustrates that not everyone has a master-plan for life.
It questions whether even having one is worth it or if it's better to see life through the eyes of a child- constantly in the present moment with curiosity and eternal optimism.
