Review of Kelly's Heroes (1970) by Jude P — 04 May 2017
I'm not usually big on wishing a movie was inherently different than it is (ie genre), but I can help but think this heist-war-dramedy was just plain funnier. Not that it's laughless, but it's just so perfectly set up, with its cast & premise, to be more farcical than it is.
Despite this, the gorgeous 70mm cinematography & breezy lightness in the pacing left me smirking along with the band of brash combatants throughout; that feels like a mild victory to me.
