Review of Keeping the Faith (2000) by Fred T — 24 Apr 2009
One would expect Ed Norton's directorial debut to be a hard-hitting drama, but instead he delivers a light romantic comedy, casting himself alongside genre staple Ben Stiller.
The film as a whole works quite well, despite a slightly fantastical plot line; a love triangle between a Catholic-Priest, a Rabbi and their childhood friend. The three stars all deliver decent performances and there are may amiable comic moments. However after strong beginning, the film concludes all too quickly, with typical rom-com aplomb, and, despite its moral-dilemma, it remains a fairly shallow, insubstantial piece of cinema.
