Review of Keep 'Em Flying (1941) by Hayden L — 05 Sep 2011
A strangely entertaining if minor entry into the duo's military films. In this chapter, Bud and Lou enlist themselves in the Air Force to stay close to their pilot buddy, Jinx Roberts. The real problem with the picture is its balance, though it is very close to the ideal mixture.
There's just a little too much concentration on Jinx's story and not enough time spent with Abbott and Costello, though, with a film meant to inspire and entertain the troupes, this is understandable.
The result is an average action-adventure comedy with some very funny situational gags courtesy of the headlining pair, the highlight of which is a scene where Bud and Lou grapple with a pair of identical twin waitresses with opposite tastes in men and get criss-crossed signals.
