Review of Keane (2004) by Lynne N — 19 Jul 2009
Firstly, if her on-screen persona is anything to go by, Amy Ryan should never be allowed to have children! Now that I've got that out of the way...
This was a great film - largely down to an absolutely sublime performance from Damian Lewis. The first twenty minutes of the film is purely close-up tracking shots of his face, and he carries off the extreme scrutiny brilliantly. The plot is completely (and intentionally) ambiguous - so much so that my friend and I had such differing opinions of Keane's motivation and intent that we could have been watching separate movies!
Lewis is ably supported by a small but great supporting cast - most notably the ever-reliable and always adorable Abigail Breslin. Based solely on the cast alone, this film is well worth a look!
