Review of Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012) by Vera H — 14 Jul 2012
I was pleasantly surprised but then again my expectations were low. Although clearly self-promoting and perhaps a little egotistical at times (especially considering it is produced by Katy Perry herself) I did actually enjoy myself.
It does have its funny moments and I have to say her family really are quite lovely. The musical scenes are great and I did feel the need to clap after a few of the performances. Katy Perry fans will undoubtedly love it.
Although it does take the feel of a feature film rather than a documentary at times, particularly with the rolling credits and such, but there are some revealing moments. However, I suspect Katy Perry had a lot of control over what was included and so perhaps it is not as personal as it could have been.
Still worth a watch and it succeeded in convincing me in liking Katy Perry much more than I thought I did before, which I think is the films main aim. I watched in 2D and really cannot see what difference a 3D version would make at all.
