Review of Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012) by Trenay H — 25 Jul 2012
Surprisingly interesting, this is a documentary that follows Perry for a few months both on stage and through her private life while on tour. We also get some background about her childhood and a few key people are interviewed.
It may be seen as a clever PR exercise but it's one that's well done, even for people who are not fans of Katy Perry. The film feels quite controlled even if the camera goes backstage and we are allowed to see her cry on several occasions, especially when dealing with her divorce from Russel Brand.
