Review of Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012) by Andrew H — 07 Sep 2012
As enjoyable as some of her songs, her documentary Part of Me is a backstage pass that gives fans and filmgoers a glimpse of who this over-achieving (record breaker!), multi-hypenate is. It is refreshing to know that one of this stature in today's celebrity-fueled circus-of-life can remain grounded and genuine.
Following the pop star for a year on the road just as her fame reached the stratosphere and the short-lived relationship with Russell Brand bloomed, it is a relatively-intimate look at a girl going after her dreams while persuading others of all walks of like to do the same.
Like her or hate her -- that is the film. Raised as a devout Pentacostal, Katy;s inner-self is revealed through interviews with those who know her best -- including a dear grandmother who resides in Vegas! For her fans, this isn't a waste of time; but as others don't care for or about her they could do without a Part of Me.
