Review of Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012) by Roni A — 08 Jan 2013
This was a very well-done chronicle of the struggles experienced by a young artist trying to find support for her uniqueness in a business geared toward creating what it thinks will bring in the bucks.
Her perseverance is inspiring, especially when seeing this small young girl triumphing over naysayers. It also shows the decline of her marriage due to the conflicts arising out of distance and disappointed expectations.
Katy Perry shows much vulnerability and transparency, while also revealing surprising (to me) talent excellence. I am now a huge fan and Katy Perry-lover. I like that she seems to be hanging on to her relationship with God and there is the slight chance she'll use her career to eventually influence her multitude of followers to learn of God's grace and greatness, but I'm not seeing that from her yet.
However, the film was entertaining & authentic enough for me to see it two times.
