Review of Kath Putli (1957) by Rebecca B — 02 Feb 2009
I knew nothing about this film before I watched it but it's great - a lovely song, Vijayanthimala is beautiful, but sad, and a terrible morality tale. The idea is basically "don't put your daughter on the stage, Mrs Worthington" but so heartrendingly so you almost believe that women should be kept in the home to have children and serve their husbands rather than be successful and famous.
