Review of Kate & Leopold (2001) by Timeen * — 28 Dec 2010
This is a charming movie. The point about it is, Meg Ryan's character is bland and rather nasty. We don't really get to see her as she is supposed to be. But we get a glimpse, though Leopold, of what she could be, or should be. The end of the movie leaves you with a deep feeling of all is right.
It's a goofy sci-fi, and I like it. It works. It may have contradictions in it, but it's vastly pleasing to watch the crazy ex-boyfriend with his feindish delving into time travel and knowing the truth: he had Kate for awhile because she was MEANT to go back in time --to stay there. Weiro stuff, but absolutely cool.
This movie we own on DVD, and have only seen it in this medium.
I like certain people in the movies, not in everything they do, but it's nice to find them in movies that work. I don't pay attention to everyone's names in a movie everytime though. I see people that are "new" to me, but that's where it ends. So I had a stupid "AHA!" today. Kate & Leopold, X-Men, and Van Helsing. Duh. :).
