Review of Kaminey (2009) by Purvesh K — 21 Aug 2009
It not horrible but just about average, like most of VBâ??s other films. This film promises, through its camerawork and music, chaos and on the edge of the seat entertainment but its not really fulfilled because of its utterly banal and juiceless script.
No where in the film there is enough dramatic tension and nowhere its engaging enough. So much of time is spent in working around the theme and revealing plot details at different points while the most basic factor is sacrificed in this whole exercise- to make it fast paced and unpredictable entertainer.
Like his other films, this one also proves that VB might be good at picking up interesting romantic angles but in treatment he never manages to generate any amount of emotional pull or sympathyâ?¦ something that was, just like in this case, missing both in Omkara and Maqbool.
Technically and in terms of performances, this film rocks but otherwise on the whole...its intelligence without entertainment. And in my opinion Makdi is still VBâ??s best film.
