Review of Kaminey (2009) by Ram B — 14 Sep 2009
I am not one for "twin" movies. Generally, I hate them. However, Vishal Bharadwaj is someone who is so intelligent in his filmmaking, he can only be described as a genius. I'm not saying the movie itself is absolutely amazing. But it's close. It's a gripping, well-made, well-thought out movie with outstanding performances. Shahid Kapoor has proven ten times over that he is capable of enacting any role, whether it's that of a lover-boy or a murderous con. He was amazing in his roles as both Charlie and Guddu. Priyanka Chopra was good - her role wasn't extremely long, but whatever she had, she grabbed onto it and milked it for all it was worth. She was very natural. The supporting cast was great. Songs were utilized extremely well - not once did I feel they were interrupting the pace of the movie.
Really good movie. Very unpredictable and kept you glued to the screen the entire time.
